Dress code for intro calls with headhunters?

Saw a thread on this but was fairly dated, not sure if this has changed much. Curious if it’s a common thing to be wearing a suit/tie in a virtual intro call with a headhunter, or if just a button up would do. Obviously no harm in over dressing, but just curious what is seen to be the industry standard here

I'd do button up with a smart blazer unless you're in the NYC market, then I would do suit and tie. I think it's a bit bizarre, but in the bit I've interacted with the NYC market (I've never worked in it, but have had colleagues/network in NYC) everyone was dressed a step above. Institutional outside NY was just business casual and you'd throw on a jacket if you had an important meeting like an in-person with an LP or a city council meeting, NY was always suit and tie. I mention all that to say I feel like your recruiting outfit should reflect your market's standard uniform.

I've met with many institutional investors in NYC in the past month.

No one wears a suit and tie anymore. 100% business casual. If I interviewed someone in a suite and tie I'd probably have a laugh about it...

I don't think it really matters as much anymore. Be comfortable and be yourself. Let your knowledge and experience shine, not your wardrobe. If someone is making decisions based on attire, you don't want to work for them in all likelihood.

Understand this is controversial, just my take...

Put the tie on.

It is very easy to make a joke about it to help break the ice if you are obviously overdressed.
