Early 6 figures @ 27, worth switching to FE/IB world?

Working for a large computer science company in the Pacific North West, making mid-way between 100K and 150K. Doing pretty well.

I have these pangs for working in NYC, wearing a suit to work. Also, more money wouldn't hurt.

The real question is -- is it worth a mid-life career switch? Has anyone out there done it successfully -- in a reasonable manner?

Assuming I'm good at math, and minored in Econ, how tough would it be (on a scale of say 1-10) to land up at BB?

What do you mean by "mid-life career switch"?

If you're serious about moving into finance, your best bet will probably be business school. Plenty of former engineers end up as associates after getting their MBAs.

IB isn't the kind of industry you switch into on a whim. And your reasoning for switching sound pretty weak. Assuming you weren't just kidding, "wanting to wear a suit" is one of the worst reasons for why IB I've ever heard.

Without rebranding yourself using an MBA, 2 or 3 (with 1 being the hardest).

Otherwise, going for a good MBA program sounds like the way to go.

Wearing a suit sucks, trust me, it has to be ironed and cleaned and is a high maintenance bit8Ch.

Yes you look good, and its fun to wear once in a while, but when you wake up late and realize your suit is in a bunch from last night, now you need 15 minutes to get up and iron that thing...it stops being fun lol

...or you can just own more than one suit.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

lol exactly what i was thinking, i don't think i've ever ironed a suit as i would only make the wrinkles more permanent.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!
