Efficient Networking Call Scheduling Methods

Monkeys of WSO

Does anyone have any experience or ideas regarding ways to efficiently schedule calls? I'm not pumping out 15 calls a day (although some might say those are rookie numbers), but sometimes the process to schedule a call entails 10 emails just to find a slot of time. Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on apps like Zoho, MixMax, or Calendley? Would sending a calendar link to schedule a call be frowned upon (obviously sending calendar invites when a time has been found is helpful, but I'm talking about the actual process to find a time)? Any insight is appreciated. If you're going to throw some monkey-shit my way, please put some heat on it.

I would just suggest a number of times across a number of different days. I’ve found that to be the most effective and limits the amount of back and forth. Also in the case of it getting moved, you’ll hopefully have some other proposed times to fall back on. Often times people will be busy for weeks at a time so I’ve been hit with a nice version of “ask again later.”

I think Calendley is super cool and the way forward, but it's a *touch* presumptive in the land of IB networking which is wildly traditional. Analysts probably have seen it with their tech friends and won't care, but some people will look at you a bit sideways for implying that they should take the effort to look for times to get on your calendar, and not the other way around, given they are 50x busier.

Agree with the above, best way to do it is to send a wide array of times for at least 1-2 weeks. If the whole exchange regularly takes you more than 2-3 emails each, you might want to reevaluate your scheduling process.

be chill with it:

Email 1: Hi I'm X please call me

reply 1: Hi X, let's call

Email 2: Thank you, here are my available times, please let me know if any of this works, if not I can send more times. Let me know a good number to reach you at or you can call me at 916------.

Then send calendar invite when they confirm a time and indicate who is calling who on it. Make their lives easy
