Experience vs gpa
How would you compare internship experience vs gpa for IB recruiting? Say someone had a 3.5 with 4 internships (2 boutique IB, 1 vc, 1 search fund) vs a 3.9 with one boutique summer ib internship. Who’s the more competitive candidate? Would like to get some color. Thank you
The quantity of internships is not relevant, 4 random internships at firms that basically do nothing vs 1 internship doing basically nothing don’t even move the needle and funny enough neither do grades. I’ve found involvement in competitive student clubs, success in competitive investment competition (Harvard stock pitch), big name internships (Carlyle, MSD, Farrllon, even Big 4 Transaction Services) and how you build your network (social ability) are really the most important factors for getting an interview.
How do you get those big name internships before recruiting? Where and when are MSD and Farallon apps posted for soph summer?
