FIRST FINANCE JOB out of a masters program

Hello,

I am looking for advice on how to land my first job/internship in finance for next summer.

I am a female with a top 20 US liberal arts school degree (and a minor in Economics). My undergrad GPA is a major issue since it is only 3.00, and I don't really have a good excuse for it besides doing too little of working hard and too much of partying hard. Great college experience tho :)

I am currently in a masters in finance program in a solid (but not top notch) school in Europe and my performance here has yet to be evaluated.

My internship experiences (only 2 during and right after undergrad) are related to NGO's and government organizations (not really economics or finance but could pass as international relations/politics area)

GMAT 700 (eventually plan on retaking, definitely could do better)

Also, I am not an EU or US citizen which puts a HUGE restriction on my employment prospects in terms of work authorization/sponsorship etc.

However, I would like to work in the states or London so I was wondering what type of firms I should be aiming for/could even have a shot at? I don't want to waste my time (which I am already running out of) applying to firms that recruit ONLY top notch candidates with stellar undergrad GPAs since I obviously wouldn't be a match, so what kind of firms should I even try for?

I realize this might come across as a very vague post since I didn't really specify which type of position, industry/area I was interested in, but that is only because I am getting desperate to get my foot through the door that I would take ANY.

I saw a post recently on here that made it sound like you would be a great fit for operations at a BB.

Still not sure if I want to spend the next 30+ years grinding away in corporate finance and the WSO dream chase or look to have enough passive income to live simply and work minimally.

even goldman IBD has a 3.0 graduates working there. In the end, there really aren't any requirements. You just have to get lucky impress someone to get the job. Be proactive and act "as if" (e.g. as if you actually deserve it). I was in a similar situation when I left college (an indian national living in the US from a very good US school but with a subpar gpa). Do you speak any important foreign languages?

and to Seigniorage : I do speak Spanish, and some basic conversational Italian. I was thinking of going through my college alumni database and just emailing people who work at my target firms/jobs telling them I would like to find out more about their career paths etc and mentioning of course that I was an alum myself, and hopefully someone would want to help out a bit.

However I am not sure which firms I should be targeting?

You make targetting sound awfully limiting. Hit every damn one, and when you get any sort of warm response, start to focus much more heavily on it. At the very least hit all the BB's and the prominent MMs.
