PM me as I'm also from UIC if you have any questions!

So this is from what I found from personal research:

1). Obviously we're not a target school, but we do have a hand full of current students/alum within "top" finance roles. I would reach out to them personally on LinkedIn and network with them particularly to get their input. This year we managed to get some students into IB, ER and CB so that's pretty great to see from a UIC community standpoint. Our school is growing a small presence in the big finance world and it's always a nice sight to see when others have similar aspirations.

2). Networking is your best friend! Look for small boutique firms and cold call/email your way to establish connections! Use this website, Mergers and Acquisitions, and the reddit financial careers IB page to find tools, resources, and guides to navigate the IB scene.

3). Deck out your resume! Find an internship fast and quickly make that resume stand out! Join as many finance related clubs and quickly involce yourself within the leadership team.

4). Begin to work on certifications and models for your hard hitting interviews. They will be filled with technicals and behavioral-styled questions. Master your public speaking by engaging yourself in uncomfortable and unusual situations like talking to recruiters or random strangers. Developing confidence will be key when going through your rounds of interview!

Good luck and go Flames!
