Graduating Early
Hi guys, I am planning on graduating college a semester early. Would it hurt my full time career opportunities? Would doing something unrelated to finance such as bartending be a red flag to employers? Thanks.

Early graduating senior here- from my experience, graduating a semester early will not hurt your career opportunities. What year are you graduating? If you're not a senior yet, you're in good shape. If you're a senior, you're a bit late, but keep looking and try to land a role ASAP. Can't speak much to having a non-finance related job.
I decided to graduate a semester early as well (December 2024 vs May 2025), and ended up running into a lot of employers that were specifically looking to hire January start dates. I got through to a few final-round interviews with these companies and it's how I landed my full-time role. BTW these were Full-Time programs with June/July 2025 start dates listed on the job postings. Only once I got invited to the interviews did I learn that they were looking for January start date, and that's a major reason why I was given preference. I will be graduating this December, started recruiting for FT this past summer, and accepted an offer early last month. As long as you start looking for roles early, and put in the effort to find opportunities, you'll be fine.
Congrats on the full time offer!
I am deciding to graduate in Dec 2025 instead of May 2026. The current plan is to travel for a few months before starting full time. However, if I get an early start date I am willing to do that as well.
Great idea. I would do the same if I had time before starting my full time role as well. Good luck with the process! One thing I would recommend is start as early as possible so you can land an offer early. Since you're graduating early, you'll want to have as much time as possible in the fall to enjoy your college experience. Don't save the stress of recruiting until the fall.
I graduated a year early from college and wish I had spent more time enjoying the experience. A great piece of advice that I got is not to rush things when it comes to your career; there's plenty of time to work and make money.
