How is it likely for recent graduates from Europe with few IB Internships to land a internship / junior role in US?

Hi everyone,

This is my second post here. Few things have happened since my first one in 3 years time.

I have graduated from my Master in Finance at a target European business school. Moreover, I have landed few internships in IB.

I am always dreaming of moving to the US, maybe not forever, but I would like to experience what it is like to work in NYC either with another internship or with an Analyst position.

From your experience, how is it likely that recruiter would consider an European guy while screening all the applications? Do you have any tips in particular that could help me move across the ocean? Is there something I could do to increase my chances?

Thanks a lot to everyone who will reply!

I am assuming (since it isn't clear) that you have no legal right to live and work in the US? and that you don't have first degree relatives who could sponsor you, including a US citizens as a wife.

the odds are so low, you might as well give up now.

ask your firm to move you internally or study in the US. there aren't really any alternatives except for the investment route.

If you are eligible, participate in the green card/DV lottery. odds are super low, but you never know.

Instead of wasting more money on education or an MBA, some people decide to invest in a franchise or a small business. It's probably less money than a degree and the outcome of a degree isn't that clear due to the market.

There are non-immigrant and immigrant visa available for investors. Go to the USCS website or speak to a lawyer. they will explain it.

The E2 visa, just as an example, can be had for around 100K already (or less if the business is service based).

Otherwise, unless you marry a USC, get sponsored by someone or a firm - you won't be living in the US.

Thanks for your honest reply.
Yes you are right. I have no legal right to live and work in the US. I have some relatives that are US citizens but cannot sponsor my visa because they are too distant.
I will follow your advise and try my luck with the green card lottery. Bring me luck 🍀

DV lottery
investment visa
further US degree/H1b/.. and so on
Canadian visa, then PR, then passport, then back to the US on TN (takes forever and unclear whether realistic)
marry someone
family sponsorship
religious visa
(other visa types)

speak to a lawyer
