How to win interviews as a rising sophomore
I was wondering how I can strategically increase my odds of winning interviews for sophomore buy-side internships and investment banking programs for 2021. I go to a reputable non-target school and I am Asian, which I know are qualities that don't work in my favor, but I still believe I can set myself up well to have a shot at some of these internships. Should I be actively networking like rising juniors or should I be focusing on improving and refining my resume? I have an upcoming remote internship at a small hedge fund in New York and a niche startup. I am involved in many finance clubs on campus. Is it a good idea to just cast a wide net and apply to many firms in different divisions and regional firms? Are there divisions that are not in such high demand compared to IB and AM that would give me a better shot? Additionally, is applying through the traditional online portal a solid approach to these programs, assuming they have one, or should I try different avenues? Any advice on how to go about interview prep would also be appreciated!
Just put that you're bisexual and apply for diversity programs.
