Improving Myself - What Skills Should I prioritised?

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on my future career paths. Would really appreciate it if you guys could give me some directions.

I am currently in the final year of my undergraduate degree. Coming from a communication background, I find myself more interested in the finance industry and am aspired to become an equity research analyst (any comments on the prospect of ER?). After taking the CFA L1, beginning to learn financial modeling, and about to pursue and an MSc in Finance, I am constantly looking for ways to improve and increase my competitiveness in the job market

I feel like coding/analyzing data would be (or already is) a very important skill for both resume-building and actual workplace usage as a research analyst. What language/software/application do you guys recommend me to learn? I am looking to devote around 0.5-1 hour a day to develop such skills. Also, is there any technical skills should I develop to get me an edge? Thank you in advance!
