Internship Questions - Current freshman
I go to a university in the twin cities, that lacks national recognition. However it is well respected in the area. I am only a freshman, but I am really trying to get an internship. I am going to apply for a JP Morgan summer internship in NYC. I am wondering if any of you are familiar with it I would love any advice. Also if anyone knows of any internships that are known as great for freshman, and even better they are in the twin cities. Also it seems that every internship I apply to is for sophomores and older.
Here is the link to the Jp morgan internship.
Thanks
Get a finance-related internship in your first year summer. Theres almost 0 chance you can get JPMorgan internship unless you have mad connections. Even Harvard/Wharton kids in first year struggle with ibd internship in the summer. Go and maintain a high GPA, get a pwm internship in the summer, get laid, then think about the ibd internship in sophmore/junior year
When I was freshmen, I kept thinking about getting something big for the summer, but honestly you should save that for soph/junior year. Freshman year gives you a chance to learn about specific industries in a chill environment (PWM), network, and learn the ins and outs of how to hustle for soph year and eventually that all critical junior year internship.
Basically, get something chill for freshman summer and learn as much as you can. It's incredibly valuable knowledge and experience that will help you down the road, even if you're from a non-target.
I'm a soph now and did BB PWM after freshman year. PWM is shit, but I had a lot of time to read, learn from the financial advisors, research, and make connections. Sophomore year is more manageable than freshman year, so take it easy this summer.
