is it worth trying

Considering that I am a liberal arts major without any major internships under my belt I have not really considered competing for any analysts positions. However, I was at a career fair this week and just for kicks I decided to talk to few recruiters from some banks. I was surprised how interested some of the recruiters were. The things I have going for me are a 3.65 GPA from a target school and the fact that I was an All-American athlete (this in particular seemed to garner a lot of attention from recruiters).I have also gone outside my major and taken some relevant course and done decently well: Financial Accounting: A, Managerial Accounting: B, Microeconomics: A, Macroeconomics: A, Introduction to Business: A, Corporate Social Responsibility/Green Business: A+.

I am very curious to know whether or not I have a decent chance of landing first round interviews in banking; or should I just focus on other career paths.

it doesn't up your GPA but it does show up on your transcript. The + is reserved top 2% in the class, not that being good in CSR is anything worth bragging about. To answer Jimbrowns question, I play tennis or used to play, just found at that I have permanent rotator cuff injury, which has reduced my serve to something that couldnt crack the woman's team.

Seems like you've taken most of the business major requirements, why aren't you a business major? Did you not get accepted into the program?

Also, what year are you? Is this for full-time recruiting without prior internship experience?

The reason why I wasn't a business major is because I transferred from a non-target (the GPA I listed is just from the target school though), and the school I currently go to has very strict requirements for admissions to the biz major. I was short a few of the required classes and the only time they offered the classes was during practice. My coach laughed when I asked to skip practice twice a week to take a class. On the plus side, they do allow non-majors to take biz classes. I am technically a senior and I was hoping to do recruit for full time, but if it doesn't work out, i may try for internships and then come back next year, take more biz classes, and recruit again in the fall.

Um, All-American? MDs at my bank would interview you even if you had a 2.65, even if it were only to talk to you about sports. What sport are you an AA in?
