Leveraging the fact that I have an offer in my cover letter
Hello,
I've received an offer from a bank but I am undecided about working there and want to explore other opportunities. What is the best way to leverage the fact that I have an offer in my cover letters?
I think it's important to say I have an offer in the introduction so it's noticed right away. Any advice is appreciated.
I hope for your own sake that this is fake.
with this one
I know guys who got jobs at a BB in large part because they lied about having offers from other BBs. I really do have an offer so why not make that known to the places I'm applying to?
Please do not do that. It's an arrogant move.
However, if you are asked in an interview if you have any other offers, then be honest and do say so.
Is this for FT or SA?
First out of college...
Mention your offer in the last lines of the cover letter and then attach a copy of the offer letter as proof, otherwise they will think you're trying to play them.
Here's what I tried:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I currently have offers for $50k/year at the following firms: x firm, y firm, piper jaffries, etc. I believe I am qualified for a job at YOUR firm because I have this offer. Please contact me for an interview if you can offer me more money.
Best gards, Me
Got me an offer at GS, MS, and everywhere on WS
I... feel that's a horribly tacky cover letter. If I were a recruiter I might just throw it out. This is my unqualified opinion, of course.
