Losing Offer Over Background Check?
Hi all,
My firm is going to request my references and employment history prior starting FT.
However, I was never officially employed with one of my employers, just worked for free and the boss said he will provide a reference when needed. However, it is a big PWM firm that has HR. If background check finds out I was never officially on papers, am I fucked?
As well, I got a return for one of my internships because I actually tried, when I came back for the second internships, they rescinded my full time offer because I was not interested, as I got an offer for my BB. They saw I stopped caring and figured just not extend FT since I did not even plan on coming, is this an issue?
And last, I just briefly worked with people on all of my internships, did not really connect with anyone really, how can I make sure they actually provide a good reference and not try and fuck me over?
Thank you
You’re fine
How so? I thought these firms are quite anal
about this stuff etc. I worked too hard to lose it over something I did not purposely lied over or purposely tried to deceive.
thank you for reply
For FT positions out of undergrad I’ve never seen the background check ask for references in the way you describe them. If they reach out to a reference (which is far from certain) it’ll be limited to something like ‘Did Jonny work here’ ‘Yes/No’.
I wouldn’t sweat it.
