Math major jobs
I am a math major; what careers should I look into?
Hi guys, I’m a sophomore applied math and stats major at a decent university (Berkeley)? I was pretty set on grad school before this year, and just decided I want to work in finance. I don’t know a lot about the field, so I was hoping for some recommendations on areas of finance I can work in; a lot of my school is focused on quant and IB, but I’ve already eliminated these fields.
Last summer, I did a program on P&C insurance, and I quite liked the modeling and presentation; but right now, I’d like to find something in finance that is kinda similar since my mentor told me it is easier to get into finance from insurance than the other way around.
If you were a math major:
Where do you work?
Do you like/recommend it?
How’d you get into it?
Thanks!
I meant insurance from finance, but it’s not letting me edit :(
