MD's wants to schedule a call after final round interview to let me know his decision

Went through a whole recruiting process with a firm last week (multiple rounds + case study) and the 3 MDs that interviewed me in the final round are hosting a call with me this coming week to let me know their decision? Is it likely to be an offer or rejection?

Based on previous WSO threads, it's difficult to predict the outcome of such a call definitively. However, here are some insights:

  1. Personalized Communication: If the MDs are taking the time to schedule a call with you, it could be a positive sign. Personalized communication often indicates that they value your candidacy and want to discuss the next steps directly.

  2. Feedback Session: Sometimes, firms prefer to provide detailed feedback, whether positive or negative, in a more personal manner. This could be to explain their decision thoroughly and provide constructive feedback if it's a rejection.

  3. Offer Discussion: If it's an offer, the call might be used to discuss the terms, answer any questions you might have, and gauge your interest in the role.

  4. Waitlist or Further Consideration: There's also a possibility that they might want to discuss placing you on a waitlist or need more time to make a final decision.

In summary, while a scheduled call with MDs can be a good sign, it’s best to prepare for any outcome. Good luck!

What was the outcome for you?

I'm also in a similar spot where I had an additional final round (call with HR through Zoom?) after the supposed final round with the MDs. My earlier rounds were all been physical sessions.

I got the offer. From what I gather, most scheduled calls post final rounds tend to be offers because no one really has the time to call up every rejected applicant to break the bad news. Some firms however, do this if they view you as a strong candidate but was unable to offer you the role for whatever reason (which they will explain in the call). Good luck mate!
