I mean, his number doesn’t look too off. Completely dismissing stories about MS recruiting from the past year and seeing the actual intern class is not fair.

did you even look at this photo. If there were 200 you'd see one like after every 2 or 3 people. I had to squint like back row to find any. I advocate for diversity recruiting I think it's important to give opportunities and create a diverse, integrated, environment (I don't want to work with only white dudes either why tf would anyone want that). MS flipped the script all together and made the opportunity to work w them very limited as a non diverse candidate. If this is payback for what has happened historically, then idrk what to say other than I didn't contribute to it

Update: everyone in this photo is 100% well qualified and had to compete against an elite applicant pool, even during early timeline. The problem is, if you leave 10 spots for the rest, you’ve virtually taken away the opportunity to even compete no matter how hard you work.

I go to a target for MS and I can say that the only offers from my school were diversity and they got them very early in the year.

At a target too and saw pretty much the same thing. Also guess that explains why none of my schools alumni would respond to my emails as a straight asian male lol

End of the day it’s a numbers game and if the numbers aren’t in your favor, youre screwed

I have a two friends going to MS this summer and both were in the picture. One is in S&T, the other in IB. Assuming they’re with their relevant divisions, this probably is heavily representative of FO.

Try thinking bigger picture rather than judging based on a summer analyst class size at a bank that has been known to be the most racially un-diverse/racist among the top BB's....among diversity summers, promise only 1-5 will reach MD, if that.

There was an article a while back (not going to try and find it for this) on how MS was under scrutiny for the number of cases surrounding workplace discrimination / absurd racial disparities at the bank that led to unequal treatment, sometimes improper pay and questionable layoffs etc. to those who consider themselves under represented. Didn't make headlines, since I think they're all ongoing.

Also have various friends who work/have worked there that can 100% agree the bank doesn't give a shit about diverse talent, until recently, clearly.

Does anyone know about recruiting at boutiques? Are they mostly fit, merit, and race-blind based, or do they give preference to diversity candidates?

Any tips on recruiting for an NYC boutique? (How to find boutiques that are willing to take interns and then convert to a FTO) Want to be in NYC for LMM PE/HF opportunities.
