Need Help

Currently a senior at a non-target (still a respected business school). Have three IB internships, student athlete, and campus involvement on my resume but nothing lined up. I see so many of my classmates getting jobs and can't help but feel nervous. I know FT recruiting happened in August/ September but I didn't get great traction. I have reached out to virtually every recruiter and am continuing my networking efforts. Will seats open up later this winter and early spring or am I screwed? Feeling even worse with the potential layoffs Q1 2023.

Yes I did, I stayed on with them for the fall. I wanted to see if I could make the switch to a larger bank FT. I have a classmate who graduated last year who didn't intern at a bank but got a FT role with Citi in February. I was curious if any seats might open up like that. I know some banks off early career cohorts.

Do you mean as a lateral or campus recruit before graduating? The processes are pretty different. Also, was it one of Citi's untraditional groups like carbon transition etc? I could see banks hiring for those groups and DCM / ECM but not traditional coverage to be honest. If you want traditional ibanking at a BB/EB, best bet is to lateral after 6-12 months on the job.

I talked to him when he was going through the placement process but another contact mentioned he believed a kid who went to my school (assuming that kid) was in the energy group. I have been told by multiple banks that campus recruitment has concluded and they will keep me in mind if anything needs to be changed. Preferably I would like to start at a BB/EB/ top MM upon graduation but I know how difficult it is. I believe I have built a very strong resume, however I did not realize how early IB recruitment was and how important your junior summer is. My concern is the bank I summered at is a no-name MM where I have no chance to lateral into a top bank. I am also interning at a much more known MM (offices across the country) who was recently absorbed by a large commercial bank.
