Need help with job offer

A quick background: I have a B.S. in Business/Finance with a 4.0 GPA from a non-target. I am two years out of graduation, and currently working in NYC. I want to go back from my MBA, and my current goal is to work at a boutique investment bank.

I am currently working at an advertising agency in the IT department. I have been there 11 months, and make $50k per year. The hours are strenuous, I am not any closer to career goals, but I get along great with everyone and it is most likely the most secure job I will ever have. I am one month out of my annual review, and perhaps small bonus.

I have an outstanding job offer for $60k for a software company that creates products for private equity, real estate, and banking firms. The position is a consulting position, where I would find out what they would like to do with the software, and relay that information back onto the developers, as well as do some light scripting myself. I received this job offer after the first interview (about an hour and a half long). The company itself is international, having a quickly growing branch in the US since 2008. Last month, the company was taken over by a PE, turning it from public to private.

I have some concerns over the stability of the company, but think it is also closer to my career goals while supplying a higher income. I have to make a decision by Monday. Any advice on the situation?

I really doubt the new job will make a difference for b-school apps or towards your post-MBA banking goal. I would just decide based on pay, hours, stress levels, location, etc...and based on the perceived quality of work alone, I would take that software company job.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.
