Only a Big 4 Offer - Help Please?

Hi everyone, could people offer me some advice please?

Im a UK university student, and I'm trying to break into banking however I haven't had any luck with my applications this year. I did two internships last year and have managed to secure an audit offer with the big 4.

What would you guys recommend I do? If I take it I feel as though I might get stuck there and it'll be difficult to transfer over, or not to take it and look next cycle - however I don't fancy being unemployed?

Any advice?

I'd either do:

1. A Master degree

2. Take the job and try to move within the Big 4 to TAS and lateral after that

3. Take the job and try to re-recruit

Don't feel bad about not landing a banking spot this time around, most internship spots were taken either by spring week converts or interns switching teams. Available seats per division were probably in the single digits at some places (for sure was at my BB).

Did you attend a non-target? That probably made it harder. I was recruiting for grad jobs and additional internships in the limbo between knowing if I was returning or not, and I only received a single first round interview. Context: interned at a BB in IB (product), attend a low-semi/strong non-target. So you can see how tough the hiring market was this year.

I would definitely take the job offer. It's better to be employed than not, obviously, and it'll give you valuable experience. You will still be available for FT roles for up to 2 years after graduation anyway. They usually ask for people who are recent graduates or people who have =< 2years work experience. So you could always use your experience and go to another bank.

Hi,

I go to a target so I don't think its my university - but I guess that stuff matters less now? Yes its definitely has been a tough cycle, I guess audit is semi recession proof so it may be beneficial given the coming downturn.

Thank you again - you've given me a lot to think about.
