Operations Internship vs Commercial Banking Internship

Hi,
I am currently a junior in college and I am interested in pursing a career in management consulting or investment banking.

Which internship seems more beneficial in terms of my desired career path:

1) Operations Internship at a Fortune 500 biotech company

vs.

2) Commercial banking Internship at a top California bank

Your advice and comments are welcome!

Hi Oxy, glad to know that you are interested in moving into MC. I have a few suggestions, first, go with the brand name. Second, I would suggest finding out what are the end goals/KPI of the internship. This is because MC recruiters like to see undergrads who have no position (understandably) but still create big changes. So if i found out that in the biotech company that i will be helping out with a cost-savings project and this will help the company save $10M. I would jump for this opportunity. So after the internship i would have an impressive resume. So it will be good to have a discussion with your direct manager. If both internships have lousy job scope, go for the brand name. All the best! Hope this helps!

I agree with the above. You kind of know what you're going to get at the commercial banking gig (helping the analysts with credit & financial analysis). You never know what you're going to get with the other position, so if possible ask. If not possible, I would take the banking job to be less risky. Good luck

From my interview with the inventory analyst, he said that I'll be working on cost-savings analysis, along with various projects within the operations sector. Based on these responses, I'm leaning towards the Operations Internship at the biotech company.
