Overcoming poor GPA

I’d like to know how any of you overcame a poor GPA. For context, I have a 2.7, I’m an ex-student athlete going to non-target with three semesters until grad. Also a first gen college student. Have had multiple internships doing m&a and other financial modeling work (know three statement, DCF, comparable comps, precedent transactions, & LBO modeling well) but I seriously have a hard time getting good grades. Been active on my campus and held multiple positions in my fraternity, plus have had experience managing my school’s endowment fund (que DCF + 3 statement) Anyone else in a similiar boat?

Nobody's going to hire you with a 2.7. I think lying about it and hoping nobody asks is your best bet unfortunately.

Edit: I know WSO prides itself on being moral and ethical, but the kid can't lose much by at least applying and hoping they don't ask.

Horrible advice. Any respected firm will ask for a transcript and will almost 100% rescind if you lie or cover up a poor gpa.

I hate to say it but it’s a competitive industry and 2.7 is low. IMO I would craft a good story and target a LMM firm. After a couple years out of college firms will care less about gpa and if you perform well a lateral is doable.

Congrats on securing your offer! How were you able to secure that with your GPA? I'm in a similar boat, student-athlete, non-target, and first-gen college student, also highly active with senior role in my schools investment fund.
