pwc tax vs assurance?

Hello :)

I want to apply for the PwC's school leaver programme, and was wondering which area would be best to apply for? Both business areas appeal to me, but it seems there are more vacancies for assurance.

I would be doing this for a year to gain some experience in the financial sector, and then probably off to University.

Thanks for any responses :)

I am not sure what the career trajectory is for someone in tax, however I've heard assurance is mundane and earns very little money (~50k assurance vs ~65k in tax). However, you can transfer into TAS, Valuation or potentially IB down the road with Assurance.

Okay thank you :) Do you think this would be valuable experience for someone who potentially wants to do IB as a career? I have no work experience in the financial sector so I thought this would be better than no work experience and I've heard good things about their school leavers programme.
