Senior, needs advice
All,
I am a senior, graduating in December from a non-target school, with a BS in Economics, minor in philosophy. I have previous internships in politics and finance. My goal is to land an entry level position anywhere in finance, but preferably an analyst program at a middle market investment bank.
My biggest hurdle is that I am graduating from an SEC school that essentially offers nothing for students looking to break into IB. I have a good resume, but at times the search seems hopeless.
Beside relentless networking and (seemingly aimless) applying to programs, what sort of things can I be doing to help myself out?
Thanks
Just relentlessly cold email and contact NON-hr guys from the MM firms on this list (http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/middle-market-investment-banks). From there, know your shit forwards and backwards. If you work at it hard enough, your resume is decent, and you can sell yourself a little then you could definitely land some interviews. From there, you have to crush your interview - absolutely no reason not to... These banks certainly have a soft spot for Ivy league kids (which is obvious and not necessarily a bad thing...), but they are not going to hire some bumbling fool from Dartmouth over some stud from U of F...
