Should i reach out to new employer confirming start date before giving my two weeks at my current job?

Given recent events, I've become a bit uneasy about transitioning jobs. My new position is trading Corporates/Munis for UHNW portfolios at a smaller bank. I signed the offer letter on Monday and was given a start date of the end of this month.

My plan was to give my two-weeks notice on Friday but now I've gotten worried given market conditions and the not-so-good outlook for the global economy. Would it be weird to reach out to HR at the new company confirming my start date when I just signed the offer letter on Monday?

Maybe you should stick to a happy resignation, where you applaud your former managers and how much they have taught you.

In this way, even if the new job doesn't work out, you haven't completely burned the bridges of your former opportunity if you have to go back.

Hopefully you won't have to go back, but this is a good way to avoid the 'fuck you - I'm out' type of leaving. Good luck.
