Silicon Valley Bank Associate Development Program

Does anyone know anything about Silicon Valley Bank's associate development program? What are the exit opps? Start-ups, tech companies, VC, and etc?

I couldn't find anything on here about it. Thanks

I’m wondering this as well. It seems like Corporate Banking to meet, but I’m not sure.

I'd say it was mostly standard in the sense of a behavioral interview with little to no technical questions. However keep in mind they are looking for a VERY specific type of candidate. If you think you're going to moonwalk into this job because you go to a target school and have a 3.5+ GPA, think again. I had experience which just so happened to be quite relevant to the job and was able to elaborate on this in different ways which I think made my story a lot stronger. They do have a GPA cutoff though, I believe it was 3.2.

Their Analytics division does mostly 409A valuation for startups, which I think is very limited type of valuation experience. Most people end up moving to work for startups or start their own. No exit to VC or buyside. I know someone who works there.

Great environment. Some politics in corporate type roles but if you're likable and a strong performer, you'll be fine. As you progress it seems like you end up in a role with either a) an inflated title or b) lower title and inflated pay (think "Senior" in some groups making ~$100k or "Manager" in others making ~$90-100k. My understanding is that if you can play the "corporate" game, you really enjoy working there.

The person I know who went there has never considered exit ops from SVB since he enjoys it so much. He's currently on rotation with another group testing whether a role there would be a good fit since they DO support movement within for solid performers.

Bringing this back up. Interviewed at SVB and enjoyed it. Head of the Program is a total narc though. Real competitive, 3.5+ GPAs are expected. Process was 2 phone interviews, video interview, and then on-site at either Boston or Palo-Alto. Credit exposure is good, expect commercial banking pay with bonuses attached to warrants/success fees, with a minimal amount ~15-20% (20% on high end) in bonus. Great place to start a career for sure. Not many people can say they work with VC/PE firms this closely besides the VC GP's and employees themselves...

I'm surprised that everyone has said GPA was a thing, I'm about to go in for a super day and the director specifically said to me how she doesn't care about GPA at all. As with most companies, "it's all about the fit", she emphasized team work more than anything else. Does anyone have an idea on how much an associate would make in the Bay Area with SVP? Not ADP, regular associate.
