Stuck in limbo - How can i make the leap?

Just some background, im almost 3 years out of school, graduated from a semi-target with a 3.65 GPA, majored in International Business with concentration in finance/marketing/german. Decent ECs and i speak German (granted it was better 3 years ago), but i find myself essentially stuck. Currently working a hybrid MO/BO role (think fund accounting mixed with a little valuation, and some ops work) and was just transferred to San Francisco from NYC as they were looking for someone to fill a role and i had to get out of the strictly BO role i was in.

The more i do the work (almost 3 years in) the more i feel like im wasting my time and slowly getting dumber. Ive worked on projects for 26bn funds and to develop new internal controls/process for my current place which i actually enjoyed, but pretty much all enjoyment is lost at this point.

Ive realized that i think i want to move to a more analysis intensive position (think IB or risk modeling) and I have previous M&A exeprience from a 6 month internship i did in Germany and know a little about modelling, but i cant seem to get in the door anywhere or even get people to respond to networking emails/requests.

Any monkeys ever seen anyone in my position make the jump or have some advice? Im pretty much willing to start over and try to make a go of it. Been brushing up on technicals and statment analysis/modelling that i learning in school, but dont know how much it helps.
