Value of a math degree?

I am currently an econ major. I have two internships lined up at mid-tier buyside shops for my sophomore and junior summer. In the school I am at, econ is not in the business school and is viewed as being at a nontarget (the econ program is pretty weak). I applied to the business school, but their admissions process is extremely competitive and it is unlikely I will get in.

I have the opportunity to add a math degree and be econ + math. I am interested in hedge funds and growth equity/VC. I will probably re-recruit full-time for HF, growth/PE, or boutique IB

However, I am not that great at math. Will a math degree help my recruiting process, or will it just not be worth it? the math program at my school is extremely challenging and focuses more on pure math/theory and not applied.

Worth it, or do I just stick with econ?
