What should I do in my situation?

I am a 20M, in their second year of university. I am currently majoring in Finance, however, I am having doubts about my career once I graduate and I'm looking for second opinions.

To give some context, I am in Canada at a non-target (think central Canada, outside of Ontario) and I was accepted into schools like UofT and McGill. The reason as to why I didn't accept those offers was because the living expenses and debt would make me suffer, and things are even worse now than before since both Ontario schools and McGill raised tuition by a ton.

I started off in comp sci in my first year, but I realized it was not for me and I switched to Finance. I do like to engage in finance related activities, including anything related to markets or engaging with clients as I enjoy problem solving and talking with others. Now I am in a dilemma, since I am at a non-target, my grades are not as competitive as others, and as a cherry on top I live in Canada of all places which is limited in financial positions.

I do enjoy math, problem solving, and sometimes even building stuff which leads me to believe to go into engineering as it would open doors in both tech and finance. Regardless where I go, people would be more impressed with an engineering degree, and going into finance or anything tech related is going to better long term wise, at least I think so. I am okay with doing more school, as long as it brings me more opportunities, since I don't want to be stuck in a random job selling insurance. I am also unsure about how hard it is to get a job in the US as a finance intern, let alone moving there.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and what are you thoughts?
