When to start studying for Series Exams

Hi, I’m an incoming analyst and am looking for some advice. Should I try to pass the SIE before I start working this July since you don’t need sponsored? Should I start studying for the other Series exams this spring, or will that be included in training?

Waiting for my bank to send out prep materials. Was told that should be coming relatively soon, would expect by the new year

Your firm will give you a week or two to study, but at that point it does get a bit stressful given the time constraint and competing demands - i.e. other miscellaneous shit you need to do for onboarding/hitting the desk. The Series exams aren't rocket science, but there are a lot of random rules you have to memorize..so you can't blow them off.

If you have the time now, it certainly doesn't hurt to get them out of the way. It'll make your life a lot easier when you're onboarding/hitting the desk, and it'll prevent the off-chance of you failing and looking like a complete dumbass/making a terrible first impression.

TLDR; - if you have the free time, get them out of the way now. If not, you'll likely be fine...but it'll be a little stressful when you have to cram.
