Another insane Liberal

Arguing in the WSJ against Boeing's plans to move to SC, idiot liberal union lawyer Thomas Geoghegan takes liberal stupidity to a whole new level.

I don't even know what to say to this. Just read and laugh.

Although your name should be DaveMustaine I agree with you nonetheless. Boeing isn't even firing anyone, they are expanding into a non-union market. If I was the head of Boeing, hell any major corporation I wouldn't give up and I'd try to extradite as many Union employees as possible and only move into, or move all their operations into right-to-work states. Unions provide a service to the american worker no doubt. Some managers are horrible and staff their employees at 39 hours per week, won't let them do overtime, or other unethical measures. But the sheer strength and power of the unions have over the American (& European) workforce and corporations is destroying the profits of business and is actually building a competitive advantage for Asian companies. If I thought every CEO, manager, etc. was ethical I would be all for removing all unions- but the workers need unions- just not one that demand a full time wok week being 25 hours, having 100k in benefits, and getting paid $50/hr for janitorial work in a non-hazardous environment.

This guy is crazy. End of story.

He is not insane. He is a socialist. It is important to differentiate stupidity and ignorance from dogmatic objectives. His are the latter. In fact, socialists use the stupidity and ignorance of the public to play on their emotions while in actuality utilizing on a sublime method of implied force based coercion (better known as racketeering). It is very important to call things by their proper name for this exact reason. It is pretty funny how spineless liberals made the tough conservatives stop using the S-word so easily and quickly after a few John Stewart quips.

The fact that this is the keystone to his argument AGAINST moving the plant proves his idiocy:

'Why is Boeing, one of our few real global champions in beefing up exports, moving work on the Dreamliner from a high-skill work force ($28 an hour on average) to a much lower-wage work force ($14 an hour starting wage)?"

Why wouldn't you want to cut labor costs in half...and get away from the unions

Milton Friedman watched a construction project in China. The workers weren't using modern mechanized equipment. He asked for an explanation. The Chinese leaders told him the use of manual labor created more jobs. Friedman responded: "Then why don't you use tea spoons?"

Allowing 3rd parties to create higher costs is NOT the path to prosperity!!!

The NLRB is an abomination.

Dave = I guess he’s heralded as the most technically proficient….even if he is, writing the solo/riff/song is the tough part - requires mostly sheer talent - whereas hand speed is part-talent/part-skill.

Kirk = Writes the best solos, no one can touch their creativity and beauty

James = Best songwriter in metal history, period. His riff/songwriting abilities are/were probably the best and most driving force behind a band with many other impressive features.

favorite song? I'll go first.

Megadeth - Kill the King Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls

James ftw, but Lars is a little bitch.

I like James, but the best songwriter? No way. Dave is a far better songwriter, and definitely a better soloist than Kirk. Kirk didn't even write music for any of the songs in Metallica until Enter Sandman (admittedly their most successful single) and was even told to copy Dave's solos for the songs that Dave wrote (Kill 'Em All album, and assorted songs on Ride the Lightning including the title track- which I still believe to be the best Metallica song out there) But his true strength lies in rhythm guitar- Dave has been acknowledged by James and other musicians as a great rhythm guitarist. I think Metallica has a better taste for what mainstream metal and rock listeners want, but Dave is more technically proficient.

I think Metallica is more successful because

1 James has a better voice than Dave...obviously. I have grown to love Dave's vocals, but I had to learn to love them...not a good sign. 2. Metallica's lineup is less chaotic. While I think David Ellefson is a better bassist than any bassist that has ever been in Metallica save Cliff Burton, other than him and Dave the rest of the lineup has been a stream of guitarists and drummers. Chris Broderick is a great technical player but can't write solos...at all. Just listen to the Right to Go Insane. It's fast as shit, but it doesn't sound melodic at all. Glen Drover (the previous lead guitar) couldn't play their older, faster songs. Al Pitreilli was a studio musician, but Marty Freidman was amazing as well as Chris Poland. And, surprise surprise their best albums came out of the two last ones. While Dave does...well pretty much everything for Megadeth, the meeting of the minds that happened with Freidman and Poland mad the music so much better. And those tow iterations had Nick Menza and Gar Samuelson as drummers- two of the best of all time as well. If Dave wasn't so drugged out during those days Megadeth would have been superior to what it because as they all evolved and played together. On the other hand, Metallica, save the bassist, has been the same three dudes for the last 20 years. Kirk was set in place to emulate Dave- he even admits it. Listen to Exodus with Kirk (they are all demos I think)- his playing is completely different. Kirk (and even James) have said that when he heard Dave he changed his style because he thought Metallica was so cool and had an innovative playing style. 3. Metallica leaned commercial at the right time. Both bands did this, Metallica with the black album and Megadeth with Risk (and the slow progression up to it). It was just the perfect storm of Back in Black and Use Your Illusion that combined with the black album that helped shift sensibilities to a midpoint that Metallica was wiling to compromise. (Also Cliff Burton, a major driving force and sound in the band had just died letting them have more freedom/commerciality with their music) 4. Better sense of music trends. Metallica hired Bob Rock (who made Enter Sandman sound far superior, just watch the classic albums episode on it), Megadeth did not...end of story.

Overall they are two of the greatest metal bands of all time, but I feel that since the Black Album, Metallica has been on a downward spiral. While they tried to stop it with Death Magnetic....it just didn't do it for me. James is trying to sing like he did pre-BA but he can't anymore. He is trying to sing with harmonies, but hia voice isn't as good anymore. Megadeth stopped their crappy album streak with United Abominations (great showcase of Dave's writing along with Rust in Peace) and is going in the right direction. I think Metallica is too, but they aren't back yet.

Favorite songs...

Metallica- Ride the Lightning (intro is sick) Megadeth- Tornado of Souls (but adittadly I like almost every song by them sans ones off Risk and TSHF)

And I think we can all agree Dave has a God complex and Lars is a dick.

Also, watch this Behind the Music...it's great....
