Any of you into photography?
Any of you guys/gals photographers? Started watching a few videos over the summer and have been taking some pictures with my phone, don’t have another camera. I think it is a cool skill to have. Any of you have tips/resources I can use?
Have done a lot of lifestyle photography for products. Lighting + knowing the ins and outs of Lightroom is the biggest 80/20 IMO. Especially in 2020 when you can get a decent lens/camera inexpensively.
What kind of camera do you use? We just bought an A6100 starter kit for our product photography.
1/3s rule
Always focus on the 4 points of interest in the photo and split the sky or water with 1/3 not 1/2.
I guess you picked up a few things from taking all those selfies.
I've never been one to take pictures with camera or phone, but photography is a hobby. I have rentals and I can't justify paying someone to take pictures at $100-$150 a shoot for a rental listing.
Anyone familar with drones. I'm looking to pick one up. I'm am considering a dji mavic mini drone, seems like a good starter set.
If any one can recommend a good YouTube channel or another resource, it would be appreciated.
Damn straight I’m into pornography.
Wait-
Been a fan of photography since I was a teen. My Pixel phone has repeatedly and pleasantly surprised me with it's abilities.
I have a Canon Rebel DSLR which takes great shots and I am always learning. Lots of decent YouTube videos will help you out. I have copies of Digital SLR Photography for Dummies along with DVD lessons from The Great Courses taught by some great National Geographic photographers.
Hard to believe when I would sometimes have to wait weeks to see how my shots came out when film was the only medium...memory cards and the ability to see your shots instantly are a beautiful thing!
Love it, been doing it 10+ years now casually. Biggest tip I can give you is not to go down the equipment rabbit hole. Until you hit a frankly, pretty high skill ceiling, a basic DSLR and versatile lens will do. Shit, there is even free, pretty good photo editing software.
In terms of foundational learning (a) basics of lighting and composition. Some good leads in this thread (rule of 1/3s). YouTube "basics of..." (b) pick up a DSLR, start messing around with manual settings. Once you get a hang for ISO/aperture/shutter speed, explore the other tools your camera has (c) learn basics of photo editing. YouTube is again your friend. "Basics of photo editing" "editing workflow 101" type stuff
Have fun!
