Boss trying to push me out… do I file a bullying complaint against him to buy more time?

My boss filed a disciplinary notice against me citing what he claims as poor performance, even though I am regarded as one of the top analysts in my group. I am worried I will be cut in the coming weeks/months, and am thinking about filling a bullying/verbal abuse complaint against him to buy myself more time. Strategy would be that the firm would be too scared to let me go given it could be seen as retribution for my claim.

Call me crazy, but I am a bit desperate here.

For context, my boss has been verbally abusive to me since I joined. This is a known fact across our desk, and it has been brought up to me multiple times by people in and outside of our group. If HR were to investigate, I could easily cite people who would support my claims.

Main thing I am worried about is that my manager would use this as a way to make my life absolutely miserable and kill any kind of lateral prospects I potentially have.

I had a clash with a boss right out of college. She didn't have anything on me as far as poor performance so one Friday (we had Fridays at home), she sent me an email at 8:50am saying I had to be in her office by 9:00am and wrote me up about being late for this meeting. Pure BS. In the end though she got the boot for some unethical actions and I was able to go into her office and say a sweet goodbye (facetious).
