I personally always liked Halo better. I had a shitty connection, and in COD, it's pretty much who sees who first who dies. You can actually outplay and outwit people on Halo more, so I feel it has a higher skill gap. Plus headshots are way more meaningful adding to that.

Between those, CoD. Especially CoD:BlackOps. Nothing could beat a round of Gun Game on Nuketown. The other unique matches like One in the Chamber was also loads of fun.

Not saying that pwning people with the pistol on Halo wasn't fun either though.

Cod zombies is something like no other.

Amazing times playing that with friends. That being said, Halo multiplayer is better bc of the ability to capitalize on your skills.

Bungie-era Halo (Halo 1 through Halo Reach) was something else.

To me, COD always felt like the "Madden" of shooters. i.e. they just release what is essentially the same game every year. There were some gems with the older CODs though (World at War was great).

When I was a younger I got Halo first when Halo Reach came out I got it. I bought cod second MW2 BO2 but Advance warfare (Favourite cod, Bought on release, loved the old games but this was the first where I felt like I didn’t have to catch up to players who had been playing for years. The campaign was great with Kevin Spacey. It was the first cod I put serous time into as much as I played Halo. Since then I’ve played and loved both I often change depending on the mood I’m in. But recently cod has been very disappointing so I’m back to Halo. It’s casual and got some great game modes. I can play competitive on Halo but Cod feels competitive most of the time. No more casual games like back in the day with MW2 and BO2. It was the lobby’s that made those games.

Bungie-era Halo was the undisputed GOAT.

My problem with COD is that the amount of health for a player is low, so you don't end up getting into tactical/strategic "shootouts" like you did in Halo. Halo has a much more intricate micro battle structure--grenades, melee, distance, and weapons mattered because it wasn't an instakill with most weapons. In COD, I can run and stab, battle is like 3 second from sighting a player to death. In Halo, those engagements took longer to kill, players were slower, etc. So you had to understand how to use the map, your movement, the weapons, etc. to their fullest potential. Vehicles also made Halo much more interesting, because the vehicles all had their own pros and cons--tanks are powerful but slow, ghosts are fast but susceptible to grenades, banshee's forward progression is too fast so you either have to splatter or be super accurate with gunplay to not get boarded, warthogs are great for increasing speed but are able to be easily blown up with 3 player, meaning a massive setback in your team's progression, etc.

Once Reach added more accessible 3rd dimension by giving jetpacks (and other abilities), the game became perfect in it's sphere. Everything was balanced.

To me, COD was more "see them shoot them move on" and the weapons and speed were the primary micro battle structures. Of course, there are snipers, etc. but the kill turnover was so much faster that you couldn't rely on camping position, you still had to move so long as the other team was aware of your position (which should be very simple, given the fact that they have killcam and you're doing your job. Tactical insert was a game changer as well, but didn't make up for the fact that the game's cycle was inherently quicker.

I'm also bitter because I grew up with slow internet and got merc'd on COD all the time because I couldn't even see what was coming.

Remember, always be kind-hearted.
