I would go CrossFit so you can loose weight while also lifting and getting bigger muscle wise. 5'7"/160 is not that overweight, plus you don't want to cardio to the point where you're a thin dude with no muscle at all.
It's all about calories in, calories out. If you eat right and track your calories both options will suit you fine.

how do you even come to 152? what a number
are you trying to cut weight for a jr high wrestling met
5ft6 male here and I weigh around 155/160 (lean and muscular). I'll caveat this with saying I hate cardio, but honestly just get into powerlifting, weight lifting, or Crossfit. I tried a Crossfit gym once and didn't really like the whole "team/group" setting since I enjoy cranking up my headphones and doing my workouts alone. One of the benefits of being short is that you can put on some serious muscle and actually look much bigger compared to the same frame of someone who's like 6ft+ for example. Instead of cutting down weight I'd maintain whatever you're doing and just start packing on muscle, you'll trim down quite a bit anyways with the added workouts.
Cardio is just gonna make you skinnier and smaller, and I personally never wanted that but to each their own.
If the goal is simply weight loss, cardio is the better option. You'll build more muscle in Crossfit or any other cross training program, and it's nearly impossible to lose weight and build muscle simultaneously.
But just being lighter/skinnier doesn't mean "healthier" by a long shot, especially if you're not obese and just need to reduce the pressure on your joints and all - and you're barely overweight, I think, let alone fat. When I started working out I felt a lot better. There is something nice about hitting new goals and personal records in the gym, muscle burns more calories than fat anyway at a resting metabolic state, and obviously you'll probably look better. IDK, just my two cents, building muscle is a good idea for anyone. Don't have to look like Mr Universe, but even a little that isn't visible will increase quality of life
I would even ask why specifically, CrossFit? Is it the Olympic lifting? The classes? The high intensity?
If it is because you watched one youtube video and saw some jacked dudes? If it is this, you will reach your goals much faster by just lifting in the gym and eating well.
Like others have said, if you want just weight loss, I'd vote cardio. For total health? Cross-fit is probably better overall, but remember you'll hit an inflection point since muscle is way more dense than fat and even though you think you're smaller, your weight can start going back up (in a healthy direction mind you). Personally, I'd vote for an all-body exercise like swimming or rowing instead of muscle zone specific exercises, like where after you've been just lifting for a while you look like a Lego man because you can't put your arms down due to bulk but you have chicken legs. Do you want to be shredded like Iko Uwais or Yayan Ruhian or earn a nickname like "The Rock"?
