CFA Schedule Template

I created this post in response to the CFA Time Management post earlier this week. Many of us monkeys either work full-time or have other obligations which make it hard to create, let alone stay on track, of our study schedule. The template attached is set up to help you keep track of your combined CFA study time and your study time broken down by section.
-->

As stated in posts earlier, whatever your technique may be (morning vs. evening, special cube vs. couch, beer vs. Red Bull), the key to passing any of the levels is putting time in. The model is not advanced by any means, but it is a nice start to help out all the monkeys who have yet to plan start studying, and for those who simply haven’t created a schedule.

I think it is key to make sure you put extra times in the areas which count for the highest portion on the test and those which you have no clue on. The template is not really set up in any given order, so feel free to change the colors, and sum functions, to your liking. Also, if you have yet to start, you will need to delete the rows accordingly.

Make sure to try and maintain around a 300 hour minimum for the entire study schedule. I have heard some people say 250 is required, and of course others get by with less than that, but try to maintain as high a level as possible. Be as honest with yourself as possible when creating the schedule and dividing up your time. If you have future commitments, or know you can’t work Friday nights, put zeros on those days. Block out completed days with colors/borders and add to your tally at the bottom.

Also, leave plenty of time at the end of the study schedule to review questions/answers. Working problems in bunches should help increase your score.

Should I add any additional features? Hope you enjoy monkeys.

It's a good starting point for sure.

Personally, I would go heavier in the final month. I probably averaged 40 hour weeks in May. Especially for Level II, there is so much material to remember that I needed to devote myself to it. But everyone is different, and the doc is a good starting point to customize from. Thanks for posting.

It's all manipulated with junk bonds. You can't win.

I would agree with that. Everyone's schedule is different though. I think it needs to be updated and changed for everyone who uses it.

I just passed June Level I. I waited to study ethics until the very end and was happy I did. It is not very difficult to get the hang of, but easy to forget and given that it is one of the most important sections for Level I you want it to be fresh.

WalMartShopperDamn you, now I can't procrastinate on making a schedule...

Very nice, sb'd.

Thanks. I think I took away many people's excuse

You have over 30 sb's and not a single ms...you sir, deserve recognition.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!

That is nice of you to create a schedule. The amount of time required to study and do well on any of the CFA depends on various factors. I put in close to double the suggested time for each level. Of course, I gave up a lot of stuff during the journey
