College Flashback

Having started FT IB, I had a flashback to freshman/sophomore year when I was trying to decide between comp sci and finance. I liked programming, it was the only subject in college that I felt interested in. What kinda turned me off was the other people in comp sci - to be precise, as others have alluded to, successful SWEs are "autistic" to some extent. Don't get me wrong, they were great and respectable people, but I couldn't quite find myself looking up to them, including my smarter classmates, the FAANG engineers, and the professors. There was something about the charisma of finance/business people that interested me, even though IB work itself is pretty mundane (let's be honest here). Admitedly, between a finance chad and a software geek, I probably lean more towards the latter. But maybe that's why I took an interest to finance - these guys had qualities I don't have and I enjoyed being around them (ok not the actual chads but you get the idea).

Anyways, this is not a regret post - my question to you guys is: would you rather do interesting work ("interesting" defined by yourself) with people you don't find interesting, or work with interesting people doing not-so-interesting work?
