Do any people commute to NYC from LIC?
Currently based in East Village but was thinking of moving to LIC - anyone commute to the office from LIC? What’s it like in that neighborhood / are there more restaurants now?

Lots of people in my office (in Midtown along the 7) commute from LIC. The food scene is still limited, and the rent discount has narrowed quite a bit in the last few years. Commute is great if you're on the 7 or E train, but takes a while to get downtown and if you're single you will have a tougher time dating.
This also gets asked every week, was a good thread here a few days ago so recommend doing a search as that one had a bunch of answers.
I frequently recommend LIC to the more cost-conscious crowd because transplants don’t seem to know of its existence and wind up in crappy upper east side walk-ups. To someone living in the east village (especially for single folks), LIC will be a big trade-off simply due to being outside Manhattan. However, LIC offers a significant quality of life boost to those otherwise considering similar cost options in the upper east/west side for essentially the same commute time to midtown and lower Manhattan social hotspots. In the upper east side, you’ll live in a pre-war walk-up while for the same price in LIC you’ll have an amenity-filled luxury apartment.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, LIC, or Long Island City, is mentioned as a potential place to live with a commute into the city. One user specifically notes that it's about a 15-minute ride into the city, which suggests that commuting from LIC to NYC is quite feasible and not uncommon among professionals.
As for the neighborhood itself, the context doesn't provide specific details about the current state of restaurants or amenities in LIC. However, given its proximity to NYC and its growing popularity, it's reasonable to infer that the area might have a decent selection of dining options.
Here is a question that you might be interested in and I can help you with: What are the pros and cons of living in LIC compared to the East Village?

Would say LIC is generally a solid place to be. More restaurants there compared to a few years ago as well
