I love geography and it still took me a moment to say Hungary.

That woman was so hot though. What is so funny is that 3rd grader will grow up, aspire to be a banker and work 100+ hours a week simply to spend enormous amounts of money on bottles of Goose for the shot at sleeping with her.

It may have taken you a moment to say Hungary, but I seriously doubt you ever thought either "I thought Europe was a country," or "Is France a country?"

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

she's beautiful and very sweet-tempered.....Gotta say I'm on her side.

compare her to this harvard perfectionist (its very hard to like her):

Kelly Pickler...the smartest of our generation. I admit I did not think of Hungary, but I in fact, contrary to most other people from her home state (joking), that France is indeed a country.

Reality hits you hard, bro...

Is this surprising ? I am Italian and did my elementary, middle school and high school there, before moving here in the US for college.

The first thing I noticed when I got here is that most people in their 20's have ABSOLUTELY no idea what's outside of the US.

I had people asking me whether I was French after I told them I was from Rome, or whether I spoke "swiss" after I told them I lived in Switzerland for a while.

Then I found out that geography, as a class, here is basically nonexistent. In Italy you study it from first grade all the way to highschool.

It is extremely alarming, and I am very thankful of what this country has given me, but I honestly fear for its future. Imagine what will happen when this generation will one day run corporations or have any sort of control of the contry's politics and power. Oh wait, we actually almost got to see that with Sarah Palin....close call.

The general populace is pretty bad at geography sure, but how many of those people are ever going to be running a multinational company? Pretty sure everyone I hang out with has a pretty decent handle on geography. I will say, in terms of formal geography-focused education it's pretty limited to learning state capitals in 3rd grade. Though as an educated person, I find that you just tend to learn the locations of places. Hard to learn European or World History, for example, without getting a grasp on the geography.

Close call? What hole have you crawled into between 2000 to 2008?
