Goldman Restructuring Co-Head Leaves Post

There's been a lot of speculation on the law blogs about the real rationale for this move. Sprayregen's a pretty big name. It'll be interesting to so who (if anyone) GS taps to fill his spot. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/01/business/01gold…

I imagine that majority of ship jumpers today are restructuring lawyers joining investment banks... we have one here.
That's the move I (sorta) made. Got BK experience in law school and went straight into restructuring.

Imperial Capital's restructuring group head went back to Milbank a few months ago: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2006_Feb_6/ai_n26748833 http://www.milbank.com/en/NewsEvents/RecentPressRel/Prominent_Restructu…

I've never had any interaction with Imperial Capital before. Have any you? Any thoughts on what their restructuring group is like now?

Harvey Miller, the biggest name in bankruptcy law, did the same thing when he went to Greenhill for a few years then back to Weil. The rationale for Sprayregen's move that seems to make the most sense is that his role at GS was DIP lending, and there's no capital to lend, so he was getting antsy and jumped back. MMmonkey, I'm trying to do essentially what you did, though I was going to go to a law firm for 1-2 years. Do you think it's better to go straight to the finance side? Were you an analyst before law school? I'd be interested in hearing about your experience.
