Depends, a friend of mine used to go to the gym during lunch. After 3 days, he was approached by an Associate, who told him that going to the gym during lunch, wasn’t helping with the team building.
I guess it depends on your team and how you communicate it.
If you are a well-formed and compentent person, it must be easier that if you are the guy that needs to ask tons of questions…

depends on your team's culture, if others during lunchtime do whatever they want and don't feel the pressure to help someone that may be crushed, then yeah, go for it, otherwise, if it's a team where helping others whenever you have time is "highly encouraged" then better go another time.

for me, I would just go everyday at the same hour and I'll make myself clear that the gym is a non-negotiable priority in my life, so they know I'm also for the team but that aspect is a non-negotiable aspect in my life. If you go only when you're not busy then your colleagues may also leave you without support in deals that you be extremely stressed. Or before going just ask if anyone needs help, tell him/her that you'll be 30min. going for a run/gym and then you'll be back, this may be more acceptable.

Or just take lunch at your desk and use the time people go for a lunch to train?

hmm sounds like a straight question with a simple answer but there are so many variables

incentives trumph ethics

Not complicated. Copy what others (at your level) in your team do. But generally going between 9-6 would be unusual for a junior and wouldn’t leave a good impression. Going any time outside that window is fine and nobody cares as long as you’re responsive / communicate generally and go for a reasonable amount of time. All this stuff is easy to figure out once you build up some trust and rapport with others on your team.

I go two times a week, usually around dinner time for an hour and come back. It usually means i might need to stay a bit longer at the office but i couldn’t do it without going to the gym anyway
