Have Fun Voting for a Convicted Felon for Pres
President of Law and Order until it applies to him. It’s rigged because he was found guilty but if he were innocent then the great people of the country would show their voice again. Let’s hear the excuses.
PS Biden isn’t the best either but man at least that party is willing to say negative things about him.
Pretty clearly a witch-hunt
Only a witch hunt because he was found guilty. If he were innocent, it would have been the American people speaking the truth.
What should we do? Abolish the court system? Your almighty leader falsified business records to keep a payment to a p star quiet. It’s pretty simple. A fair jury of peers evaluated and decided unanimously.
this court case is the equivalent of a cop giving you a speeding ticket for going 26 in a 25
A fair jury? What planet are you from. The judge and jury and DAs were highly biased - this is obvious.
Your are right. No one here would be complaining if there was a not guilty verdict and then the memes would be mocking the prosecution. According to these legal scholars on WSO, the only possible verdict should be not guilty despite no one here being an attorney. I do not have any doubt that the prosecutors spun a case to get a desired outcome but this is what they do.
Hate when people repeat his 2nd grade vocabulary as gospel
Catch me screaming MAGA until it’s backwards.
You could at least try to pretend to be a liberal with a few brain cells but nope..no surprises here
should it be a crime to falsify business records? yes
do I care that a billionaire sent a pornstar $130k in 2016 from his business account (technically lawyer) so she wouldn't tell the press they had sex 20 years ago? no.
Since you like talking about Biden - how about we investigate his connections with Ukraine? Buddy has been in bed with them since the Obama days and numerous examples of corruption have came about over the years. Every Dem wants to send Ukraine billions, but fails to remember Ukraine was and still is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. You think all those billions we're sending them now with Biden as President are legit? Come on. That's way more egregious than sending 130k to a porn star.
I'm sure Trump has done way worse shit - get him for something else, not cheating on his wife 20 years ago.
One thing to note as a prior contractor in my pre-grad school days is that aid packages are not just lump sums of money. They issue the aid package to approve the purchase of the machines and weapons allotted via the DOD contracts. Now, they will also just offload shipments and military-grade goods that are overstocked or ready to be shipped out. But typically, it's for the country to purchase weapons and Ammo from the DOD via a defense contractor or foreign government to the US that has already sold the armament. Quite interesting to actually see the flow rarely goes to the nation allotted, but they will break out the actual financial allowances to the country for Aid. Which I haven't read the documents and would be interested to see.
You should read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins if you haven't already. You're 100% on-point, foreign aid is basically money laundering more often than not.
Well, as Republicans are always saying in regards to people who complain about minimum sentencing - if you don't commit a crime you have nothing to fear. Mr Trump is a criminal. Whether you think it's a major crime or not is irrelevant, you should be supportive of catching criminals of all stripes.
You are aware that Republicans in the House have been investigating this for years and found nothing, right? Can you name a single example out of the "numerous examples" of corruption? His son got paid a lot of money based on his last name. That's pretty shitty behavior, but (a) doesn't implicate Mr Biden automatically in any sort of wrongdoing, and (b) is hardly different than what Mr Trump and his children got up to. Hunter Biden is a a sleazy guy... but in years and years of spending taxpayer dollars investigating him, conservatives have yet to come up with a single shred of evidence tying any possible misdeeds on his part to his father.
Put up or shut up.
First off, do you seriously not understand the difference between Congressional aid being voted on and sent to an international ally, and Mr Trump committing an act he knew was criminal?
More to the point, prove Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. It certainly was... when it was run by a Russian stooge. I'm sure it still has quite a bit of corruption. So does the United States! What is your point? We send money to Israel despite them trying to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank. Ditto Ethiopia, Myanmar, etc. We send money to all sorts of corrupt or objectionable regimes around the world, and we do so for geopolitical reasons. Ukraine is no different, excepting that the threat they are facing is much more obvious and much more potent than most.
You are humiliating yourself with these arguments.
Dude, if you don't know why Mr Trump was convicted of a crime, don't you think you should sit down and listen to the adults?
He wasn't charged with cheating on his wife. He was charged, and convicted, for election fraud. It would be like arguing that it was OK for Mr Clinton to lie under oath all those years ago, because the thing he was lying about was consensual sex. Mr Trump knowingly broke a law and attempted to cover it up. No one cares that he's a serial philanderer. Hell, most of his supporters don't care that he's almost certainly pedophile and admits to being a sex offender! But he committed a crime, tried to cover it up, and should pay the penalty for it. Just like he always insists other criminals should.
"Whether you think it's a major crime or not is irrelevant, you should be supportive of catching criminals of all stripes." That's the dumbest thing I've ever read.
Did you know if you go 15mph over the speed limit that can be classified as reckless driving? That's a felony per judicial discretion! This Trump ordeal is the equivalent.
Thanks for the 6 paragraph essay. Go back to Reddit buddy.
You're a clown, this was ridiculously politically motivated
Witch hunt through and through.
Why would I care that he used campaign funds to keep a whore quiet?
I don't like Trump at all, but I would rather vote for him than a geriatric who doesn't know what year it is.
Yeah this is a bit of a witch hunt but...I think it's pretty bad to cheat on your wife right after she gave birth to your kid. Pretty messed up. It's funny nobody is bringing that up.
Politicians should be held to a higher moral stand, but instead a lot of politicians are disgusting morally and Trump is no different.
You should read how much JFK and Clinton got on the side while they were both married AND president lol. At least this one just happened on the side while Trump was your run of the mill scuzzy billionaire.
No one voted for Trump because he's morally upstanding, he's a NYC real estate mogul they're all dirtier than a septic tank. People voted for him because he's against the establishment that's run this country for 50+ years, as shown by how hard they try going after him with hilarious stretch cases like this. The judge's daughter literally works for DNC political campaigns, was using this trial to raise money, and he didn't recuse himself.
All for having your own opinion.
But "Biden isn’t the best either but man at least that party is willing to say negative things about him" is an absolutely insane take.
I'd rather vote for a felon convicted for improperly categorized personal expenses than a pedophile using his family to take bribes from our enemies while in office.
You mean Donald Trump? The man who directly profited from foreign diplomats (not to mention the American taxpayer) paying him for access at Mar-a-Lago? Or, no, you meant his family! Like Ivanka Trump receiving what, 16 trademarks in 2 months from the Chinese government while her father was in office?
Mr Trump asked his bag man to pay off his affair partner so he could bury incriminating news. He did not "improperly categorize impersonal expenses" any more than he "improperly stored" classified documents; he did both of those things deliberately, and whether he did it out of malice or stupidity is immaterial.
Every thing you might accuse Mr Biden of (some of which he deserves to be scrutinized for!) Mr Trump has also done, and done to a worse degree. At least when Mr Biden was found with classified documents in his residence, he cooperated with federal officials trying to retrieve them and didn't try and hide the evidence, or deny it, or claim it was a "witch hunt."
That's the difference between liberals and conservatives in general in the age of Trump. One side is imperfect but at least committed to things like fair elections, relative openness with the public, and personal responsibility. The other has decided that anything which makes the Leader look bad is automatically illegitimate.
Supporting Mr Trump is supporting authoritarianism. It's the simple. If the only result you'll respect is one which favors you, you've lost the ability to say you care about living in a free and open society, not to mention you are probably revealing more about your own moral and legal predilections than you otherwise might care to.
Despite his Nixonian views about being above the law, Trump is not above the law. It will be even more interesting to see if he gets jail time.
Above the law? What law? Alvin Bragg presented a completely novel legal theory that 1) a state DA can enforce federal law and 2) that money paid for an NDA is actually a federal campaign expense, despite the Federal Election Commission having investigated this point and determining that it was not a campaign expense because a campaign expense is for things that can be used only for a campaign, such as polls and flyers.
The phrase above the law does not only apply to this case. It applies to his approach in life. He believes he should get preferential treatment regardless of any laws. He does not even want free and fair elections. If he loses an election, he says the election system is rigged...If he gets convicted, he says the justice system is rigged. He does not support our systems UNLESS it benefits him. If outcomes do not benefit him, he whines like a toddler. He is VERY bad for the republican party. We have gone from people like Ronald Regan to people like Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Green. This site is comprised of Trump supporters ONLY because he is not a dem. I do not think there is any action he could take that would lead to people on this site not voting for him.
While I think the dems have their issues, the trend is better. We went people Bill Clinton who was extremely sleazy to people Like Barack Obama who was probably one of the most ethical Presidents this country has ever had.
Don’t care, still voting Trump
Donated immediately after the verdict and will be voting for him.
Don't you just love all of the delusion going on here.
I will! Thank you.
No one honest cares about the results of this communist-like show trial. The judge literally allowed his daughter's DNC donators to sit in the courtroom like it was a Broadway show. Clinton and John Edwards did the same exact thing Trump was accused of and got a slap on the wrist.
Please source the "same exact thing" Mr Clinton did.
Bill Clinton paid Paula Jones to end a sexual harassment lawsuit. Hillary Clinton (through the DNC) paid for the fake Steele Dossier that started the entire Russia collusion scam (the scam that the left conveniently forgot about).
I'm going to add an opinion. Indicting a former President and potential President sets an awful precedent for the US.
If what the democrats fear is that Trump will be President, this is not the best way to stifle his election.
There was a certain precedent set in ancient Rome where a Consul could not be arrested while in office, with the caveat that once he weas in Rome's city limits ceased to have the legal protection, until he ran again. Upon asking the senate to grant his stay until the next election, the senate which did not like him refused. This lead this Roman leader to cross the Rubicon, the line of demarcation into the city of Rome.
We all know what happened next.....
For those not in NYC, Alan Brag is the worst DA we have ever had. He does not prosecute crime, assaults, and murder. This was clearly a personal and political vendetta. And its backlash is unfortunately accomplishing 1 main thing, the lack of accountability of our courts. If 50% of Americans think the courts are rigged, we are on a slippery slope towards not believing the rule of law. And if the courts can't be trusted then it erodes our confidence in our electoral system.
Didn’t Trumpies literally chant “lock her up” during the Clinton campaign? So hypocritical lol. Don’t break the law and won’t have to worry about being indicted!
What a nonsensical takes -- tell me, did Trump try to lock up Clinton when he was president? No, he didn't. Only the Dems and Biden are trying to lock Trump up which speaks to their intentions to steal the presidency under some guise of virtue
No. The precedent that it would set would be a President or former President is above law when no one should be above the law. Trump already thinks he is above the law.
You have clearly missed the legal documents, that state the previously posted. And for good reason...the points I laid down.
But Mr Trump committed a crime. You are the one claiming there is a political purpose behind it. Had Mr Trump been acquitted, all of his supporters would be claiming that the trial was a great success and validated how innocent he truly is, and how he's the victim of a political witch hunt. So... you are basically implying that the only fair trial for Mr Trump is one in which he is found innocent.
No one is trying to keep Mr Trump off the ballot over this. But he committed a crime, and as he himself would have said of anyone but himself, criminals should be prosecuted. All he had to do to avoid this was not commit a crime!
Well, this is actually pretty prescient for a lot of reasons you probably didn't mean to imply. First off, Mr Trump isn't in office, and while he was, he certainly made some rather grand claims about his immunity. Remember, he has said explicitly that anything he did as President could not be a criminal act. However, this is a crime he committed before he was President, being prosecuted after he left office. Second, consuls did not get protection from prosecution when they ran again for office, which anyway was supposed to have a 10 year gap, so you are factually incorrect.
Third, you do understand that you are implying that Mr Trump would be justified in once again employing violence to have himself established as dictator to avoid criminal prosecution, right? Like, this is what you think is an appropriate response, this is what you think is going to show you're a decent human being? Mr Trump should overthrow 250 years of democracy and civilian government, and he'd be justified in it... so he doesn't have to go to jail or pay a fine for a crime he was deemed to have committed by a jury of his peers?
The insanity of the conservative wing of this country is beyond anything. You honestly believe that Mr Trump, a man who has repeatedly been found guilty of or admitted to criminal behavior, is the victim here? That the entire edifice of government and society has been preparing, for years if not decades, to rally around the idea that this one person should be stopped from being President, and that that is more likely than the simple fact that Mr Trump is a criminal and has been found guilty of such?
That doesn't bother you? Mr Trump won the Presidency! He assumed office without any liberal yahoos trying to overthrow the government or murder anyone, which is more than can be said for what happened when he lost the next election. You really think that this is some vast conspiracy to deny him another round in the White House, instead of the natural progress of the law catching up with a serial criminal?
How do you even get through the day?
50% of people don't believe in the courts, because 50% of people think that any court which convicts Mr Trump is illegitimate on it's face. Look at this thread. Look at the number of people explicitly stating that Mr Trump can only receive a fair trial if the jurors are friendly towards him. It's not Mr Bragg or the court system at fault, it's the fact that a huge segment of the American population honestly believes that any attack on Mr Trump, any loss he suffers or verdict which goes against him, is by definition biased and illegitimate. According to you and anyone else who supports him, Mr Trump is above the law. Or rather, the only people fit to judge him are the people who like him.
If you are going to outright state that trials by jury, or free and fair elections, don't count, then stop with the sham of pretending like you care about American values. What you want is a dictator.
Three is a difference between liking him, hating him, and impartiality.
For too many reasons to explain, the courts and DA bent over backward, and through many technical loopholes. But, I didn't care about Jennifer Flowers, or Stormy Daniels.
I mean Bragg is the worst DA NYC has ever had in totality. I don't get how you would disgree if you live in NYC
What crime did Trump allegedly commit?
Liberals love to describe Trump as a "convicted felon" nowadays. It just rolls off their lips. Like candy. The sour end of the stick though (for liberals) is that he will very likely be our next president.
LFGGG Trump 2024 MAGA
Here's hoping brother -- Biden is literally a senile puppet who's lost whatever sense he had. Either vote for Trump or be comfortable in an unelected shadow govt manipulating our world behind the curtain of a president who barely has enough cognitive function to breathe and chew with his mouth closed
I mean, he is a convicted felon. And if he's the next POTUS, he'll still be a convicted felon. The same as he's still a confessed grifter.
And if he's the next President, then my strong guess is that he'll take office without a mob rampaging through the Capitol building, murdering and looting in an attempt to force Mr Biden to stay.
That's the difference between a conservative and a liberal. For you, the only result which is legitimate is the one you voted for. For us, the idea of democracy, of fair elections, of faith in a jury of our peers, those things still hold weight and currency.
You don't even know what you want in Mr Trump. Your in a cult. What did he accomplish? Cut taxes a little.... that's about it. Can you name another major accomplishment? You don't even care about policy anymore, which tracks the last 15 years of the GOP in general, but can you name a single reason you want Mr Trump to be President that doesn't involve disliking Mr Biden?
He will no longer be a felon once the ruling is overturned in appeal.
"It's a witch hunt!"
Well, they must have been lucky - because they found a coven.
I just can't wait until November, when Trump gets the final boot, and we hopefully never have to see him again - sans the occasional news regarding his trials. The republican party needs a fundamental do-over, and build up the party from scratch.
They're running on woefully unpopular policies, and doubling down on those, because they can't lose the MAGA crowd.
When you have to fabricate a crime to convict the guy then yeah, it's a witch hunt.
You'd think that at least one of the 12 jurors would have said stuck to "not guilty" if that was the case?
Let's be real here, if a jury of 12 spend only two days deliberating, and finds you guilty on all counts, you might be guilty as hell.
