Hello I'm 21 and still in community college

The predicament that I am in is that I am 21 and in community college but I feel like I am behind in life I wanted to be in a university by now and preparing for law school but plans did not go according. I will be applying for colleges this fall 2013 but I am afraid that I will not get into decent colleges on account that I have been fighting for the past year with my gpa I was at a 2.0 last year. And raised it to a 2.25 in fall but still nowhere close to a 3.0. After this semester my gpa should raise to at least a 2.8. And then my summer classes should help me obtain the 3.0 but will that be enough to go to a uc? The reason I had a 2.0 was that I never failed a class but never went, only on exam days so I just received 22 units of C's are my life goals on going to law school down the drains on account that I messed up my first year? What are your opinions?

In the long run being behind a couple of years isn't really a big deal, your CC GPA is what is going to hold you back. Just from anecdotal evidence out of my group of friends from high school/college the people who took a couple years to 'figure out' what they wanted to do ended up being able to find better jobs after school. You obviously did not want law school that bad if you were never willing to attend a class.

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..

THIS.

Study your butt off, graduate and get a decent job. Then think about what you really want. You can always get a masters degree later on to boost your chances of getting into a job / grad school professional program that you really want, but you need to (1) focus and (2) get your priorities straight. What have you been doing with your time? Only you can answer this honestly, and what you tell yourself is the most important thing.

Figure out what you really want, and then just go get it.

Get busy living
