Hobbies outside of work

Been in PE for about a year. Have done nothing other than work and things have been going well professionally, but outside of quarterly weekend trips getting hammered with college lads, working out, and Hinge relationships that don’t go anywhere, I’m not all that interesting.

Has anyone else found any hobbies that are conducive to our lifestyle? Looking for things that keep me active, make me a more rounded person, and get me in touch with people also in their early 20s. Any advice is much appreciated, thank you all!

Other people can recommend hobbies, but the key is doing something that *you* enjoy doing, not others. We can’t really predict what you will like.

I lift weights, cook, garden, play rec sports, play video games, and read. Maybe all of that sounds lame as hell to you, but maybe you’d prefer cycling, swimming, brewing your own beer, or learning how to play guitar.

Go do things. See if you like them. If so, keep doing them. If not, try something else.

i can't believe this is a serious question...like what did OP do your entire life before work?

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!

Even though I was not a huge jock growing up, have found rec sports to be fulfilling. Great way to meet people, be competitive (but not too competitive) and get a workout in. It’s generally the highlight of my week. Also think it’s good to have one serious sport (soccer, basketball rec leagues tend to be more intense) and then one fun one that girls will do (kickball, volleyball, tennis) etc.

Run club is also a big one right now

I like to lift, read books, renovate my home, work in the garden, ride bikes, go to the beach.

I think the key is finding what you can do that’s conducive to your work schedule and then fitting it around that. Sometimes you have to squeeze it in but as long as you enjoy it, gives you something to talk about and relax from work with.

Meeting people at the gym has been huge for the social aspect in my life; hard to do otherwise since I don’t like to go to the bars. See if you like doing something like that - even if it’s yoga, cycling, etc.
