how to forgive yourself?

going through a FT process, MD outright tells me that "he would love to have me on the team" at the end and we will "definitely speak again soon". i didnt get the offer. given its at the end of the recruiting cycle and there is barely (if any) opportunities out there, what do i do?

honestly, i am ashamed and embarassed with the prospect of graduating from a good school with good grades (3.9+) to be unemployed. after not getting the return during the internship despite doing my best i still failed. really am hurting rn idk wtf to do

literally have applied to hundreds and have had 1-2 interviews a week since 4th week of august

Been there before too man. Missed the boat on so many interviews, unemployed and constantly searching for jobs between junior year this time to senior spring.

Ended up at a boutique you’ve likely never heard of for 1.5 years before lateraling out to a solid mm. Try to do that, any place with decent deal experience could be a good place to start for laterals. Most the good places are likely wrapped up with recruiting so keep your options open when applying. Just try and find something somewhat relevant to what you want to do, whether it’s boutique or some cb/ lending role, then lateral

Just taking a step back and addressing the dramatic thread title, the first step would be to decouple your happiness from your employment status here. Life is hard and things won’t always go your way. The good news is that now you can find another way. Shake this off, take some time to decompress and relax over the holidays, and hit the grind again in the new year.

Don't. Commit seppuku. You have brought great shame to your family young padawan, now you must fall upon your sword.

Honestly understand that life isn’t just the formula that WSO pushes (IB->PE within 2 years), life has bumps but a chip on the shoulder motivates like nothing else. Your a target and you’ll find something soon
