How to maximize ski days / are ski towns worth it?

TLDR: how ski more?

After skiing for the first time since college a few weeks ago - been drinking from the firehose since graduating - I realized how much I missed everything about it. Currently based in NYC and dying get more days in while I’m young. Grew up skiing a lot.

Considering a move to a ski town but not ready to leave NYC yet as I love my current seat. Chill hours and decent pay + carry at a small fund. But not planning to stay forever. Might be a myopic calculation but I think down the line I’d be happier making less money if I got 20-30 days a season before I turn 40 than if I waited until retirement in my 50s-60s. Concerned though if a move to SLC / Denver would derail a PE career.

Any monkeys get more than 5-10 ski days in this year? Would love to know how to maximize from NYC or if I should just move closer to a mountain.

Thanks for any tips guys

When I lived in NYC, there were ski buses that left from the city to VT for a day trip or weekend trip. Really the easiest way to ski, especially if you already own all the gear.

I’ve averaged 20 days at a LO since I joined— a lot of my ER friends can get at least 10. IB friends more like 5-10 as 2nd & 3rd year analysts/associates. A lot of my friends from school seemingly get at least 2 trips in a year (measured via IG stories) who do everything:  HF, PE, VC, GE, and IB. Everyone skis. Your CEO skis. Your MD skis. Your PM skis. If you get your shit done and people know it’s a hobby you really care about, you can do it. I’ll rent a car and go up to VT by myself Friday night and drive back Sunday after a full day. Ski Alta/The Bird, Brighton, or Solitude to be 1 hour from the airport for a 3 day weekend. If you want to make it happen, you can be on the mountain. I’ll admit that other than skiing I’ll don’t take long vacations really as I prefer to ski, but yeah that’s been my experience.
