I'm a millenial and I'm better than you
I can only assume this site houses plenty of millennials, who like me, are SICK AND TIRED of being bashed my grey haired, denture wearing, defeated men/women. I won't argue the typical "we're like this because of our parents" or "atleast we didn't destroy the planet". NO. Simply put, we are better than you. We are more educated, we are more tech savy, we are more entrepreneurial, etc. Sure, we might be more indebted, but everyone with a brain can draw the conclusion that debt CAN be friendly.
So, why the hell do people still bash us? Why does the media invite tree hugging travelers on air to debate their generation? Why not in invite a recent college grad working in business, mental health, medicine, or law? OH WAIT. We're too busy working our asses off to interview with self-obsessive Tucker Carlson. Sure, some millennials are notorious for spending $80k on an art degree and living in a van out of their undergrad, but this is a very small percentage of the millennial generation.
Rant over: Sorry, i just had an elevator ride with some old guy who smelt like tonsilitis who had the audacity to tell me that since I'm a millennial, he's surprised I didn't hand him my resume. I think he was a VP of PHONE OPERATIONS. Keep in mind, I didn't even look at this guy, not even in his direction. I should've told him to shine my shoe for $100 so he can retire before having a stroke at his desk. Ok, I'm done.
You're a clown. If you were any good at what you do, you'd have the self confidence to let your work speak for your performance. I don't feel the need to justify my existence and "skills" verbally by ranting, others just know I'm capable of QBing work and fixing problems, irrespective of my age or generation.
You have self confidence, yet felt the need to correct my spelling error despite the fact i spelt millennial correctly throughout my post. Interesting.
Speaks volumes of how capable you are of "QBing work and fixing problems".
Except the part that didn't auto-correct, your subject line.
Thanks for playing.
This post is the trashiest, most ironic, myopic, and least read-worthy thing I've read all week. From one millennial to another, great job and well-said. SB.

As a millennial, 90% of millennials f*cking suck
Also, it sounds like the OP is a bitter person with $200K in student loans who works in Accounts Payable
Coming from the certified user working in "other", I'll take everything you say with a grain of salt :-D
Lol. Rn't u a junior trader? Bookkeeper at best
Never Happened.
are you chimpinout? if so, who let you back in?
the annoying thing about millennials is the need to take pictures of everything and post to instagram/facebook for "likes"....what the fuck is this shit? If you post a picture of your dinner plate...or if you pose for the sole intention of posting a picture on social media...you are the problem.
Couldn't agree more. I don't have an IG and can't remember the last time I posted on fb or twitter, but yes, that shit is annoying.
however....my GF is a millennial...and she does all this stuff...but the sex is off the charts...alas but i digress...
This actually is super annoying. Not all of us act like that though. Me and my buddy were visiting ground zero (NY) and the amount of people I saw taking FUCKING SELFIES really made me sick.
These arguments occur with every single generation going back as far in history that you can. Only difference is instead of it taking place over a cup of coffee or a beer it can be broadcast out to millions in a matter of seconds.
That said the reason many dislike millenials like yourself is the arrogance in your post without achievement. You are clearly in the early stages of life post undergrad and believe it will all be gravy going forward. Good luck snowflake.
define achievement
More than you have acheived.
Achievement is measured in many ways in life. For most they measure it by what is put away in the bank, retirement, SEP, etc. For others it is to strive and maintain a healthy work/life balance. It could be running your first marathon or running multiple marathons beating your last time. Have you overcome something that was previously a fear (for many public speaking falls on this)?
Could you right now write up an achievement statement? What adversity have you faced and overcome?
Interesting commentary. I literally go into fucking orbit when I get called out for when I was born. I worked hard so I can be a fucking banker not so I can listen to someone bitch me out. I'm always happy to discuss my opinions with someone of another generation and I'm not saying I've achieved as much as those over me, but I hate to be grouped with people who clearly didn't apply themselves. However, I can't really argue when people think I haven't "earned it" yet, because I simply have not. I have a nice job but I'm a first year who still basically knows nothing. It's all relative.
I'm a millennial, but I have to say that the current generation (Z) are working harder than almost any previous generation. These kids have shit job prospects, and may get a degree in something that's obsolete 5-10 years from now.
But, still, they're working part time, studying like animals - and facing ridiculous GPA expectations / pressure. Their loans are getting more expensive, the housing market fucking sucks.
Whenever I hear some 50-60 year old (in senior position) bash kids today over being "lazy, spoiled, incompetent", I want to remind them that if they were young again, and were to apply for the same jobs with their 1970's / 1980's resume, most wouldn't even get a reply back.
They'd probably end up at the local retail bank, trying to pitch insurance or retirement funds to the average Joe. There's just so, so much competition today, and you really need to jump through arbitrary flaming hoops, just to even get a chance.
Fact is, the goal posts are constantly being moved, and younger people have to keep up doing more, paying more. Luckily I work in AI.

Millennials are creating new businesses at the lowest rate since pre WW2 and likely even lower than pre WW1. So no millennials aren't more entrepreneurial. Educated doesn't mean jack shit if you aren't learning any hard skills, learning how to think, learning actually useful things. The reality is that sterotypes are generated out of reality + noise.
I hate the term, so I'll just say I'm born between 1980-2000. ditto to the poster above who said this happens with every generation.
fuck whoever judges you, surround yourself with people who want the best for you and not naysayers, and let your work speak for itself.
plus, if you're in banking/PE/HF/PWM, don't shun the older generation that much, they're the ones with capital to invest in your projects.
so fuck the older generation? nah. fuck millennials? nah. fuck complainers

OP, why succumb to the stereotype then? As a Millennial, the content of this post tells me why we are looked down upon by older generations.
Clearly many millennials are out of touch with reality (not saying people from other generations are not). But, be part of solution not the problem.
Could not agree more
I think it's hard to deny that the Millennials got hit pretty hard by the financial crisis and had a hard time getting on their feet. It's also seems like they are hit the hardest by "selective inflation" - education, housing etc.
However, if you are really asking for it - nope, you are not a better trader than I am. At least not at this stage :) and if you stay in AM you're likely never be...
yasss gurll u gooo u woke get emmmmmmm "#millenialpride!!! lock trump! not my president! digital nomads! live in thailand for 1 dollar a day
Just weird
As is your post. Please act seriously if you want to be treated seriously.
This must be a phishing post. You are trying far too hard to sound like the press-defined, quintessential millennial that we "gray-hairs" have come to know and be disgusted in to no end. Many millennials have positive personality traits that are valued by society in general, not just millennials. However, as with every generation, there are many attributes that have been assigned to your generation which most consider undesirable. You touched on a few during your "rant", if that's what you want to call it.
Unfortunately for you, your writing and grammatical skills leave much to be desired and you do not sound like an educated millennial with a chip on your shoulders. Your post reads much more like it was written by an immature, low self-worth young person who is bitter about their personal situation and have chosen to use your parents' generation as your scapegoat.
If you are so much better than we, then why must you attempt to shout it from the hilltops? Inferiority complex anyone??? True superiority lies in ones ability to realize their social position, have the humility to treat others with basic human dignity and judge a person, not a group of people, based on their individual qualities. You've chosen to lump an entire group of people into one category and assign negative attributes to said group. If I didn't know any better, I would say that is simply another form of discrimination.
Your generation is supposed to be hypersensitive about injustices, racism, discrimination, etc., yet you turn around and practice precisely what you rail against when it happens to align with your beliefs. Try to get a few synapses firing between neurons before putting pen to paper, so to speak. Your post reads like you're a 20-year old who still hasn't outgrown onesies and your pacifier.
Interesting. Cheers
I don't have this thought articulated well but to me a huge issue with millennials is the attitude contrived from our consumption of media: wealth flaunting, self-centered, materialistic etc. I'm no High Sparrow wearing a potato sack but my generations obsession with extremely vain projections of themselves leads to frustration. If you think that at 25 you should be wearing designer clothes and driving expensive cars you're either going to be a) extremely frustrated with your lack of conspicuous consumption ability and look for something to blame or b) lock yourself into financial burdens trying to fund that lifestyle.
That's not always the case, having been around and talked to real people trying to make something of themselves and facing real hurdles trying to fund a decent education or overcoming their missteps in college. I am just of the position that the lifestyle being sold to us by the media makes appreciating what you have relative to other generations difficult and distracts people from putting their heads down and doing the work.
Well said, Walker. +1
This obsession with "education" is really misguided. Going to school does not make one educated. In fact, in many instances, it makes one miseducated.
I'll give you tech savy but that too isn't a benefit/advantage in itself. It depends on how you use it and what type of tech we're talking about. Mastering selfies on Instagram isn't exactly socially beneficial.
Also, you don't even attempt to back any of your claims with actual data. I guess we're supposed to just take it on your word that millennials are "more entrepreneurial."
Ladies and Gentlemen - don't feed the trolls please.
I'd like to chime in by just saying life was easier for many boombers when they were in their late teens, early twenties than it is for millennials. No crippling student loan debt, higher target school acceptance rates, ability to major in anything and still get a job, etc. Only downside was that they didn't have the internet, which is a huge equalizer, but regardless they were an extremely privileged and pampered generation living off the prudent decisionmaking and sacrifices of Gen x and the Greatest Generation.
I don't have anything powerful to say. I clicked because of the title and no TL DR, actually read it through. My dude, you need a hug, but i know what it feels like to have people repeatedly beat you up for something that you literally have no control over. Stay strong #MillennialSupport
Listen here, Lester. You've only been a member for FIVE days, yet you've managed to submit >30 comments. I get it. You just watched Wolf of Wall Street for the first time and suddenly you're a financial guru. We all know the type.
I don't want to see another comment by you, especially on such dated threads, until you have a gold star by your name. You're exactly as your rank states, a CHIIMP. A naked CHIMP at that. Thx.
