Immigrant/not from western world family thoughts

I can't say this is the basis for every western family but I can tell you that any non-western immigrant family will want their kids to either be doctors, engineers, and in some cases lawyers, in 98% of cases. The jobs then such as finance, entrepreneurship, etc are frowned upon and seen as a lack of accomplishment. I am pretty sure that this is so intense that someone that is an engineer and makes 150k is seen as more prestigious as a VP in an MF PE making 400k. I'm Arab and studying finance rn and I've had great support from my parents but I can tell they're disappointed, even though they don't show it, that I wanna pursue finance given the fact that I could've had gone to engineering or medicine. However my love for the financial markets is so big (both public and private), and I one-day wanna start my own PE/HF someday. Overall, life is good and hopefully, baba will be proud when I spoil him in the future. But I know that not all families are like this and was wondering how other people cope with that (you don't necessarily have to be an immigrant or non-white to answer this question)? I have cousins who look at me when I say I'm majoring in finance as if I'm majoring in unemployment. Cheers guys
