Thanks for getting things moving, Alex.

I'm Andrew, graduating from Indiana University in May 2011. Prior to my introduction to the world of finance, I completed a sophomore internship at a consulting firm in Chicago. Decided that I enjoyed the work but wanted to dive more into the financials. Intending to break into IB, I came across a unique opportunity to skip a step by jumping straight into the private-side. During my junior year internship, I worked in a real estate PE group at a BB firm. Finally, I hopped ship to a consumer-focused PE firm in NY where I'll be starting full-time in July and planning to travel and study for the GMATs prior to my first day on the job.

Interested in hearing everyone else's stories about where you went to school, how you got to where you are, current experience in PE, etc.

Vincent Van Gogh - Everyone said to him, "You can't be a great painter, you only have one ear." And you know what he said? "I can't hear you."

azndevil666Out of curiosity, what do you plan to do after your time in PE (assuming you see it as a 2-3 yr thing)?

After 3 years I might decide to go for an MBA, depending on the market. Otherwise, I'll stick with it as long as I'm learning. Eventually I'll try to open up my own fund or do something else entrepreneurial.

All in due time though. Just want to enjoy the path for now. How about you?

What up HFFBALLfan123. RevPAR, to answer your question: It would be awesome if I didn't have to go to business school and could just keep on working here for a while (5 years or so), then make the choice. It makes me vomit in my mouth when I look at the tuition figures + I don't do anything right now besides work & getting wasted.
