Ireland is the new European economic hub

Well laddies, who's moving over for the next hottest FinTech job in Silicon Docks? I'm not even Irish so I'm pretty indifferent.

GDP growth rate in European Union countries in 2019.

"The European Union's fastest growing economy in 2019 was Ireland, with the country's Gross Domestic Product growing by 5.5 percent that year. This was followed by Hungary at 4.9 percent and Malta at 4.4 percent." Aug 25, 2020 (statista)

Youtube - How Ireland Is Quickly Becoming The Richest Country In The World, Jun 25, 2020 (Jack Chapple)

Sort of late for the party by a decade. Ireland is experiencing a massive housing shortage, which is pissing off an otherwise calm population. Weather is almost permanently bad, the Irish accent is unfortunately impossible.

Also the main reason tech companies are there is a favourable tax regime which is regularly under scrutiny (though I do not see it going away in the next 5 years at least).

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

A lot of exceptions to the crazy economic numbers being put out by Ireland. Mainly because a lot of companies use it simply for EU access and favourable legislation. If you compare wages to Germany (also €) or UK, you will see Irish wages aren't great. Generally it is also playing catchup - Ireland was a bit of a backwater well into last century.
